To counteract a report that Transportation Security Agency (TSA) officials subjected an attractive woman to repeated security scans, the TSA said that officers focus on security, not the "good looks" of airline passengers.
"We have no record of the passenger filing a complaint when this allegedly occurred more than six months ago," wrote TSA blogger Bob Burns. "We were instead notified about these allegations more than six months after the alleged incident."
Burns added that the full body scanners presumably used in the incident "have been equipped for quite some time with privacy software that no longer displays a specific image of the person being screened."
One woman complained of being treated unfairly by TSA officers, according to a CBS affiliate. "I feel I was targeted by the TSA employee to go through the see-you-naked machine because I am a semi-attractive female," she said.
Burns opposed such a characterization of TSA practice. "When it all comes down to it, our officers are focusing on keeping passengers safe, not their good looks," the TSA blogger concluded.
